Sacrifice

<p>

Surprisingly, this whole animal slaughtering process didn’t seem to phase me. I thought I’d feel sick and somewhat revolted. Instead, I looked on and smiled as I felt my heart race with excitement. It’s a strange situation to be in, really.

Living in London, you can just go down to your local <insert supermarket chain> and buy your meat without having to even think about where it’s come from or what the animal looked and smelled like before it got to your plate! Before the animals in the video were slaughtered, they were fed and almost befriended in the garden. They grew familiar with their surroundings, as we grew familiar with their strange smells and noises.

Of course, not all of the goats were friendly and most certainly none of the cow’s wanted anything to do with anyone. The occasional attack while walking to the car was to be accepted, especially since our family was reluctant to tie them up.

The main issue I had with the whole process was that the knives just weren’t big or sharp enough. The diameter of a cow’s neck is on average about five times that of an adult human male and as you can see, toward the end of the video I’ve posted, it surpasses the knife in size by quite some way.

Why is this important? Well, the whole point of this process is to cut through to the spine as fast as possible, to keep the animal in minimal pain for a minimal amount of time. If the knife is not long or sharp enough, it’s not hard to see how it’s going to be harder to have much control over the animal’s feelings :`(.

I stumbled upon this:  http://www.cafepress.com/buy/cow/-/pv_design_prod/pg_1/p_storeid.189808139/pNo_189808139/id_23662367/opt_/fpt_/c_666/

Which made me laugh, a little.

Your vid made me laugh, a little. I’m entirely by your side if you plan on initiating a Larger Knife for Qurbaanis campaign in Pakiland.

What I don’t understand is how government in Switzerland and a few other EU nations have managed to ban Islamic slaughter. What part of “This is religion. It’s not about facts, it’s about Authority” do their scientists and citizens not understand?
