Four-Hundred Million Pounds Sterling

2 04 2008

Football’s governing body Fifa has been forced to build a £400m contingency fund to cater for the possible collapse of the 2010 World Cup.

Insurers are holding off on a decision to provide coverage for the event in South Africa amid fears that the stadiums will not be ready in time. Assessors for Munich Re, the German insurance giant which insured the 2006 tournament in Germany, are concerned about progress.

“The situation is quite difficult and fluid,” said a spokesman for Munich Re. “The problem is they need 10 stadiums and some of these are rugby grounds that are run-down and in a very bad condition.”

Bum

18 02 2008

A lot has been said about African Football of late, understandably so. The continent hosted its 26th African Cup of Nations seeing the Egyptians retaining the trophy following their success in the 2006 tournament. It’s safe to say that many of the stars of the tournament will make their way to wealthy European clubs, if they haven’t already been swooped up.

Football has been emerging as a popular sport in the continent as a whole, particularly in Cameroon, Ghana and the Ivory Coast. But it’s not round footballs that the punters want to get a better look at, no not at all. It’s big round bottoms that are making headlines in the Ivory Coast, where a new dance craze has sparked a black market in cosmetic surgery that increases the size and shapliness of bums.

The craze has been triggered by a super smash hit which I think you should watch here.

DJ Mix and Eloh are to thank for this bootylicious beat and despite the fact that the dance has been embraced by both sexes, the artists claim their main inspiration was the fine womanly rumps they observed while partying on Abidjan’s clubbing circuit.

They said in a statement to BBC News:

“We made it as a tribute to women, because African women are defined by the shape of their bottoms”

The dance and the song can be related to the craze following Soulja Boy’s Crank That which has seen thousands buying the Chicago born rapper’s “How to Crank That” DVD, which some reports suggest has made him more money than the song itself.

Take a look at a sample of the DVD and learn the Crank That for yourself. Even I know how to Crank That. Get with the times.
